Gillian O'Gorman
Hey there!
About Me
I’m Gillian O’Gorman, a burnout prevention coach, speaker, facilitator, breathwork practitioner, and founder of The Burnout Coach, a training and development company dedicated to promoting balance and wellbeing over hustle and striving.
But more than that, I’m someone who deeply understands what it’s like to burn out, at work, in relationships, in my health, and from the relentless pressure to get it right.
For years, I lived in a loop of “not enough.” I believed I had to work harder, prove more, and never slow down in order to feel worthy. I wasn’t just chasing goals, I was chasing validation. And no matter what I achieved, it never truly felt like enough.
Eventually, all that efforting, fixing, and striving took its toll, mentally, emotionally, and physically. It wasn’t the workload itself that broke me. It was the underlying belief that I had to earn my worth.
The Work Behind the Work
Before becoming a coach, I spent over 15 years in senior management roles across both the corporate and community sectors, leading teams and delivering results. But behind the performance was a growing storm of chronic stress, anxiety, autoimmune illness, and emotional fatigue.
In 2017, I retrained as a coach, and since then, I’ve worked with individuals and organisations across the globe, from Ireland to India, Scandinavia to the U.S., supporting clients from age 18 to 60, including students, entrepreneurs, and CEOs.
No matter the setting or status, the core wound is often the same: “I’m not good enough.” That belief is the root of burnout, not just working too hard, but believing you must in order to be enough.
These stories are formed early in life and become embedded patterns. We develop coping strategies to survive, often driven by the stress responses of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn, and before long, we’re stuck in a cycle of overgiving, overthinking, overworking.
Awareness is the first step to freedom.
My Approach
Today, I work with individuals, teams, and organisations across the corporate and community sectors, helping them recognise and rewire the subconscious patterns that lead to burnout and chronic stress.
Through a blend of coaching, nervous system regulation, breathwork, boundary-setting, and reflective practices like journaling and mindset work, I support people in reconnecting to themselves and redefining what success actually looks and feels like.
This work isn’t about pushing through.
It’s about tuning in.
It’s not about doing more.
It’s about being more present, aligned, and at ease.
Based in Youghal, Cork, I’ve intentionally reshaped my life to reflect what I value most and those values are now the foundation of my coaching and facilitation:
- Compassion over comparison
- Simplicity over striving
- Authenticity over achievement
- Presence over performance
- Sustainable success over burnout
My Mission
I’m on a mission to help people shift the beliefs that hold them stuck. To challenge the internal narratives that say you must hustle to be worthy, that stress is just “part of the job,” and that rest is weakness.
Ireland has some of the highest rates of burnout in Europe, but burnout is not inevitable. It’s a symptom of chronic, unmanaged stress. It’s a signal that something needs to change, not in who you are, but in what you believe.
With the right tools and support, burnout can become a turning point, a doorway to more energy, self-trust, and a life that finally feels like yours.
If you’re ready to reclaim your energy, set boundaries, and create a life rooted in balance and intention, I’d love to support you.
